Doejo is looking for a full-time, Chicago-based PHP developer who wants to build beautiful projects with one of the most talented teams in the business. We are an award-winning, full service digital agency.  We are also one of only ten WordPress.com VIP Featured Service Partners, which means you’ll get the opportunity to work on some of the biggest, most exciting WordPress projects on the web — from startups to Fortune 500 companies — and have your code reviewed by Automattic’s rockstar WordPress experts.

This is a mid to senior level position.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Maintain existing websites, many on the WordPress platform

  • Design and develop new WordPress features and plugins.

  • Troubleshoot issues with existing code

  • Working alongside our development and design teams, building new products in an agile and iterative development environment

  • Backend/Frontend Engineering

Required skills and experience:

  • PHP Development (3-5+ years)

  • Working knowledge of WP core

  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines, both solo and in teams

  • Excellent CSS, Javascript + jQuery, and cross platform xHTML/HTML5 skills

  • Working knowledge of OOP

  • Working knowledge of MySQL

  • Experience with server configuration

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Ability to quickly adopt new technologies

  • Good communication skills

Bonus points:

  • Experience in maintaining high-load WordPress sites

  • Strong frontend skills

  • Experience with Version Control Software such as Git/Subversion

  • HTML5/CSS3/LESS/SASS and other modern front-end technologies and techniques

  • Experience with other programming languages, such as Ruby

  • Experience with MVC or MV* frameworks such as CodeIgniter, Ruby on Rails, Backbone.js, etc.

  • Participation in open source projects

  • Passion for good design and usability on the web

  • Table tennis skills

Compensation:

Is competitive within industry standards and will be based on candidate’s specific experience.
