One of our most well-known local coffee shops nestled in Uptown

Doejo co-founder Phil Tadros opened community cafe, Dollop Coffee and Tea in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood in the fall of 2004. Drawing in local regulars with laptops and books in tow, the atmosphere of this coffeeshop was designed by Tadros to be a cozy extension of your living room with relaxing couches and free WEBbeams-powered WiFi.

Built in a former abandoned pharmacy space, Dollop is enveloped in exposed brick walls, libraryesque tables, local artists’ work, bookshelves and a thick wood banister espresso bar. The bohemian style shop is operated by baristas that take pride in crafting artisan lattes.

Representing only local vendors, Dollop serves Metropolis Coffee and has stocked its bakery shelves with pastries from Hoosier Mama Pie Co., Alliance Bakery and Cafe, Bleeding Heart Bakery, Homers Ice Cream, and others over the years.

Dollop is more than just a great cup of coffee―it’s a community work space seeking to inspire and relax. Expect to find students and young professionals holed up with a whimsically topped foam latte and vegan scone, pounding away on their laptops.  Dollop represents Doejo’s build-out capabilities in a richly detailed storefront.

Signage and illustrations for Dollop Coffee and Tea was commissioned from Chicago designer and illustrator Angel D’Amico.

In 2010 CBS Chicago listed Dollop as one of the “Best Coffeehouses in Chicago.” And over the years, reviewers like the Chicago Tribune’s MetroMix have said of Dollop: “Exposed brick and lime green walls greet you at this cozy and inviting space in Uptown, and the extensive pastry and coffee selections will encourage you to linger.” Centerstage Chicago said, “It's coffeeshops like Dollop that can claim responsibility for regenerating a generation of urban individuals.”
