ChiTown Rising 2016: Making the Star

This winter, we followed Mark Witteveen of Chicago Flyhouse as he oversaw the production of a giant star designed to help the city ring in the new year. This was Chicago’s first public outdoor New Years Eve celebration, and the star was quite the spectacle!

Weighing in at over 12,000 pounds, the star was designed and built locally by the Chicago Flyhouse team and ascended 36 stories up the side of the Hyatt Regency in the final moments of 2015. We were there to capture the celebration and some of the equally-exciting things happening behind the scenes.
